The 39th annual Lower Northland Masters Tennis Open reached new popularity in May with a waitlist for entry into this year's event. Attracting people from as far north as Kerikeri down to Waikato, this one-day event featured good local talent with 3 Lower Northland Masters members in the men's and ladies' division 1 finals.

The event attracted 96 players in 3 men's and ladies' doubles divisions, using 12 courts between Warkworth Rackets and Mahurangi East Tennis Club. It was beautiful weather, and many exciting matches were played in great spirits. In the men's division 1 final, last year's winners Jeff Crichton and Craig McFall from Auckland were again too strong, taking the title from a Lower Northland pairing of Michael Cosier and Jarryd Brits.

Last year's Ladies defending champions Craigie McCulloch(lower Northland)  & Fionia Wikaira (South Auckland), this year lost finalists division 1 final to Wendy Jambor(Northland) & Jane Ioaba(South Auckland).

This event's success depends on the wide array of amazing sponsors, including Pizza Hut, New World, Pascoes The Jewellers, Hart Pharmacy, and Warkworth Glass and Glazing.
