"US Open" Themed Event a Hit at Marlborough Tennis Club

Marlborough Tennis Club members enjoyed a fun-filled US Open themed afternoon on Saturday, September 5, 2026, complete with themed dress, tennis, and plenty of laughter.

The event was organised by Bill, Hilary and Taylor, with Taylor also arranging the catering, which was well recieved on the day.

While numbers were modest after a few last-minute withdrawals due to injury, those who took part enjoyed a Yankee Tournament format, with keen competition and good tennis throughout.

Most Games Won: Pavel
Best Dressed (Women's): Karen, who impressed judges with a self-made outfit
Best Dressed Runners-Up (Women's): Hannah and Maria
Best Dressed (Men's): Frank, with Hayden a close second

A special mention went to Kerie Smith, who was unable to play due to injury but still joined the fun, arriving dressed as a hot dog to support from the sidelines.

The Club thanked all members who took part in making the event a memorable one.

Club members are encouraged to watch this space for the next themed event — an "Aussie Open" — coming to the Club in January 2027.
