History
In 1927 Mr Hallyburton Johnstone willed a large area of land to a trust for community use. This land was occupied by three clubs- the Bowling Club, the Croquet Club and us- Pt Chevalier Hallyburton Johnstone Tennis Club. Thank you Mr Johnstone for your foresight!
The Club has a long history of social and competitive play. We have a thriving membership of approximately 200 Seniors and 150 Juniors.
Committee
The club is run by a committee made up of volunteers dedicated to creating a vibrant and welcoming club. We are very appreciative of our volunteers and always on the look out for new ones , so let us know if you’re interested in helping.
Facilities
We have a fully equipped kitchen on our ground floor along with table tennis. You can also find the TESE Proshop here for all your racquet stringing and equipment needs.
Upstairs, on the second floor, you can find a licensed bar, kitchenette, lovely balcony with court views and a dance floor!
The bar is open Wednesday and Friday evenings, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons during the summer season.
Along with our six courts, we also have a rebound board for solo practice.
Sponsors
We'd like to thank our sponsors for their support. Barfoot & Thompson Pt Chevalier are our principle sponsors focusing on bringing tennis into the community and supporting our initiatives. Their office is located at 1186 Great North Road, just a few doors down from Daily Bread. Pop in and see how they can help you.
We also appreciate the support from Heimsath Alexander and the Auckland Council - Albert-Eden Local Board
