We are lucky to have a number of lawyers in our PCTC committee who are working hard behind the scenes in the Save Our Clubs campaign. Here is the latest update from our Committee Chair, Lloyd Berryman:
The HBJ Sports Club continues to participate in the current Court proceedings concerning the Hallyburton Johnstone Sports Trust with the Anglican Trust for Women and Children and the Public Trust. The Club’s position remains focused on protecting the interests of the Club and its participating sports clubs, and ensuring that the Trust’s assets continue to be administered consistently with the Trust’s longstanding sporting and community purposes. The Club has recently been registered as a charity, reflecting its community role and the importance of the Trust’s purposes for local sport and recreation. The matter is ongoing, and the Club is continuing to take legal advice and engage constructively through the Court process. The support of members across the participating clubs remains important, including by getting behind the forthcoming fundraising events at the Bowling Club and the Tennis Club. Further updates will be provided to participating Clubs and their members as appropriate, as the litigation process progresses.
