COVID-19: Vaccine Mandate

As you will hopefully be aware, the government has indicated that from 11.59pm this Thursday (2 December), the country will move to the COVID-19 Protection Framework (CPF).  That means the CPF applies from this Friday (3 December).

Sport New Zealand has released the attached guidance on how the CPF is to be applied in the sport and recreation sector.  In summary, the top row is of relevance to the activities of tennis clubs as we are facilitating organised sport, which is defined as a sport gathering.

Clubs and tennis centres have the option to determine if they will mandate COVID vaccine certificates / passes (CVCs) to be required by all in attendance (except under 12s who are not able to be vaccinated at this time) or allow unvaccinated individuals to be present at venues (No CVCs).  Please note that vaccinated means being fully vaccinated (two vaccine shots) and therefore eligible to receive from the Ministry of Health a My Vaccine Pass certificate.

The Wellington Tennis Club committee has considered this matter very carefully. We are a community organisation that welcomes all people from all walks of life, but, as a committee, we need to balance this with the duty of care that we have to keep our members safe over such difficult times.

With that in mind, the committee has chosen to mandate COVID vaccine certificates /passes in order to play at the Wellington Tennis Club from 3 December.

This will be based on a trust model- members can either show their CVC to committee members in person, or, send a copy of your CVC to wtc.membership@wellingtontennisclub.org.nz
