At the Tennis Auckland awards we won the Club Marketing & Promotion award for 2020-21.
Pt Chevalier Tennis Club recognised the need to expand it’s marketing so appointed a part time junior co-ordinator with a background in marketing and comms. In addition to coordinating the junior club Karen Richardson was tasked with growing the overall club through improved marketing. This work was also supported by a number of committee and club volunteers.
The result is that the club now has:
157 junior members – 44% female
209 senior members – 52% female
This is an increase of 43% on the previous year. The growth has been across the board and particularly in the senior female members which have nearly doubled.
This has been achieved through a range of initiatives:
- Retaining existing members through regular communication
- Love Tennis to publicise the club and attract new members
- Revitalising our junior club to make Friday junior club nights a Family Fun Night
- Regular Facebook posting about club activities.
- Revitalised the website (ClubSpark) with fresh photos and regular news updates
- Prompt and welcoming responses to all club enquiries
- Introducing club branding
- Extending our marketing by linking with other community groups
- Introducing focused club sessions eg singles play club night
- Letting out the club house for functions eg children’s birthday classes and art groups to help market the club and bring in additional revenue.
This is an ongoing programme of work and expect to see further growth as a result
