Dwayne Cleugh - Dwayne is the Head Coach at CPTC and founder/director of Sparta Tennis Academy.

Chris Canady - Chris moved to NZ from the US in 2016 to partner with Dwayne to build Sparta into the program and business it is today. He came highly certified:

Briar Preston - Briar joined us after serving as a Regional Performance Coach at Tennis Northern where she worked mainly with their 14U & high performance groups.  She’s one of the few coaches in NZ who has experienced the whole pathway for players.  Briar has represented NZ internationally and also won a national title in every age group. Briar competed on the ITF circuit and capped off her junior career by being named to the NZ Women's Fed Cup team when she was 16.  Transitioning from juniors, Briar accepted a full scholarship to the University of Arizona where she reached a career high ranking of #40 in singles and #15 in doubles.

Carlos Reid - Carlos joined us in term four 2020.  He coached in Dunedin and Wanaka for the prior 4 years, establishing a great reputation with a range of players.  Carlos also brings a very strong playing background and is a current s2 player with national age group and open successes.

Casyn Buchman - Casyn joined us in October of 2016 fresh from a distinguished US college career at Washburn University where she captained two sports (tennis and basketball).  Casyn came to NZ to pursue her coaching career in a new environment and has excelled within our club and cardio programs, now leading both programs.  Casyn also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and recently graduated from the Junior Development Coaching course.

Grace Chen - We first spotted Grace playing in a national Chinese tournament when she was living and studying in Queenstown.  Grace has played at an extremely high level, representing her province in China, the pinnacle for tennis players in her home country.  Grace really enjoys helping beginner juniors and adults find enjoyment on the tennis court through teaching the fundamentals in a welcoming environment.  

Junior Fanguna - Junior joined us assisting with squads and as a hitting partner for several of our top players.  Since then, he has focused on his development as a coach.  Junior now coaches a wide range of players from beginners to nationally ranked juniors, as well taking adult classes.  In addition to his coaching role, Junior is still a highly active player competing in the Caro Bowl Reserve and Chelsea Cup competition.  In 2019, he and brother Semisi made their home nation of Tonga proud by teaming up to win Gold in doubles at the Pacific Games held in Samoa.  In 2022, Junior was named in the Pacific Oceania Davis Cup Team.

Keith McCall - Keith  joined the coaching team in 2023 from Florida USA.  He comes with not only strong coaching experience but also a teaching background.  Coaching-wise he was working at IMG Academy in Florida, which is the Nick Bollettieri Academy famous for developing Andre Aggasi, Maria Sharapova and a huge number of other top professionals.  Keith also studied at Florida Gulf Coast University.  Keith takes adult and junior lessons.

Omar Khir - Omar has recently graduated from his Junior Development Coaching qualification course.

Ryan Eggers - Ryan moved from Dunedin after coaching at the Edgar Centre there from 2015-2019 working under his and Dwayne's childhood coach, Julia Scott.  Ryan has recently completed the ITF Level 1 Junior Development Course.  Ryan has firmly established himself as crucial to both the club and tournament player programs.   On top of his coaching duties, Ryan is still an active player.  He finished in the top 16 of the NZ Open Championships and is CPTC's current club champion.
