Matthew (Matt) Jones - Head Coach, Hunua Tennis Club
Matthew Jones (32) is a qualified New Zealand coach with 10 years’ experience. He is based in South Auckland where he is building a strong tennis community throughout Hunua and Clevedon.
His coaching career started in Christchurch at a local club. After finishing his degree at Otago University, he quickly found that his love for sport, teaching, and the outdoors far outweighed sitting at a desk!
As well as gaining his tennis coaching qualifications, Matthew benefitted from coaching experiences in Switzerland and Florida where he also made connections with other coaches.

Qualifications:
- Tennis NZ Registered Coach
- ITF Level 1 JDC
- Bachelor of Arts - Geography & Anthropology
- NZIS Certificate in Sport Management and Exercise Prescription
Experience:
- Tennis Coach in Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch since 2008
- Head Coach at Clevedon Tennis Club since 2015 to present
- Overseas coaching experience in Florida, Brazil & Switzerland

- Matthew’s goal is to grow and promote tennis in South Auckland and make tennis accessible and affordable.
