NEWS UPDATE 19TH AUGUST 2024
PATRON
It was with great sadness we learned that our Patron, Nigel Perry, had died on 27th June in his 96th year. A committed, enthusiastic and warm-hearted tennis enthusiast he has been a stalwart of the Club. The President gave a tribute on behalf of Marlborough Tennis (MTC, Vets and MTA) at the celebration of Nigel’s life on 3rd July.
PRESIDENT GRADE TEAMS
If not already part of a team but you would like to play in this competition (organised by the MTA) which is held on a Tuesday at 6pm. It is a doubles format with teams of two men and two women. There are four Divisions therefor all standards catered for. It is a popular tennis and social event. It starts in October and runs until March 2025 (with a Christmas break). MIXED DOUBLES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS – ADULT AND JUNIOR
SUNDAY 20TH OCTOBER 2024
The Club Championships have not been well supported in recent years. We will combine Adult and Junior events on this occasion and it will also have a strong social flavour with a barbecue etc. Please note date and look for a partner. Further details nearer to the time.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING- 3RD OCTOBER 2024 AT 6PM
Please note date and further information will be circulated closer to the date as required by the Constitution.
BUSINESS HOUSE COMPETITION
This has been an established event but has not been held for many years. The format and details are being finalised so please keep an eye out for further information soon.
COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP AND OTHER ASSISTANCE
We have places for more Committee Members. Also, Members who can assist with specific tasks without the Committee responsibilities would be most welcome. Given the current economic climate and the difficulty in securing grants and sponsorship it is important that, where possible, Members support Club activities.
