Over the Christmas school holiday period a number of our promising juniors took part in the Canterbury Christmas Classic , the Hagley Lawn Tennis Champs and also the Waimari Junior tournament held on Waitangi weekend.

These tournaments generally feature the top junior players from the Canterbury region mixed in with some top out of town juniors. It was really pleasing to see all 3 Anderson brothers (Louis, Wilber, Charlie), Sienna Bayley, Archie Gordon, Hugo Hall, Finn Stanton, Sienna and Noah Slade, Oscar and Rupert McLafferty, and a number of other players connected to the club including Cole Glassford, Harvey Murphy and Leo Stanton all competing hard in theses tournaments. When I think back a few years ago we would not have had a single player from our club competing in these tournaments.

All players represented the club with distinction with Rupert winning the 10 boys consolidation event at the Hagley Tournament, Louis winning the 12 Boys consolation at the Christmas Tournament  and Finn knocking out the second seed in the 10 boys singles and being runner up in the Waiamari Tournament.

Well done to you all and I am sure with the impressive talent we have coming through we will see quite a few other rising stars involved in these events in the future.
