Roman moved to New Zealand in 2012 all the way from Slovakia. He started playing tennis as a teenager on the clay courts of Europe, the same courts used in the French Open. Soft-spoken and humble, he is loved by his players for his empathic but firm coaching style. Roman is very passionate about developing life skills and positive values amongst young people through sports that is why apart from teaching tennis, he also coaches basketball and football to kids at school.  

Roman is also a proud tennis parent having both of his children active tennis players. His son plays for Beach Haven in Tennis Northern's Junior Interclub Competition. 

Roman completed his Coaching Assistant Course with Tennis New Zealand in 2022 and is currently working on getting his Coaching qualification through Tennis Australia's Development Coaching Course (ITF Level 1).
