Introducing Andrew Chuah | Head Coach, Whitby Tennis Club
We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Andrew Chuah as the new Head Coach at Whitby Tennis Club!
Andrew brings a wealth of competitive experience, dynamic energy, and a deep passion for developing tennis players at every level. His tennis journey began at the age of nine, inspired by watching his mother play mid-week ladies' tennis—a spark that quickly grew into a lifelong love for the sport.
A Proven Track Record On and Off the Court
Andrew’s impressive background spans both high-level playing experience and top-tier coaching credentials:
- Representative Success: He has achieved both junior and senior representative honors for the Hutt Valley, alongside strong performances in National Age-Group and Teams Events.
- International Experience: Just recently, Andrew completed a European Tennis Tour through Spain and Italy, competing in ITF tournaments on red clay and taking home a gold medal in doubles at the Barcelona event!
- Certified Expertise: He holds prestigious qualifications, including Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach (ITF Level 2) and Tennis Australia Junior Development Coach (ITF Level 1).
- Coaching Philosophy: Small Adjustments, Big Results
Andrew belongs to an international coaching forum, ensuring he stays at the absolute forefront of modern tennis strategy, biomechanics, and technical innovations. He prides himself on helping players reach their personal goals through small, fundamental adjustments that yield massive results on the court.
Whether he is nurturing top-tier talent—like coaching a player from age seven all the way to the semi-finals of the NZ 16s’ Nationals—or helping a beginner find their rhythm, Andrew thrives on working with all ages and skill levels.
Many of you will already recognize Andrew from his historic (and hard-fought!) matches against Whitby’s Premier Men’s team. We are incredibly excited that he will now be wearing Whitby colours and fighting for our club rather than against it!
