Courts 1 & 2 Re-carpeted

Mangawhai Tennis Club celebrated its two newly resurfaced front courts last night.

The previous court surfaces had been there for more than 20 years.

After a few repairs and much slipping and sliding ,the tennis club undertook the daunting task of replacing the courts.

Everyone pitched in and with the help of the community, a tractor, Carter's forklift and Shane Cullen Contracting ,the old courts were repurposed, some to Maz and the Domain, some to a dairy farm and maybe some for home putting greens.

Tiger Turf brought new turf and 25 tonnes of sand and the new courts were laid.

It couldn't have been done without the careful management of annual subscriptions, and the generous help of Pub Charities and Tara Iti Golf Course.

Now Thursday night games can happen again unimpeded, and there was an air of excitement on Thursday night when people gathered to celebrate the winners of the latest Thursday night competition and thank Pub Charities for helping the tennis club play again!
