2024/25 Season

Time flies!  It’s hard to believe it’s now June, the 2024/25 tennis season is well and truly done and dusted!  This year the Methven Tennis Club had five teams entered in the Mid Canterbury Junior Interclub Competition along with a whopping 56 ‘Mini Hitters’.  ‘Mini Hitters’ range in ability from complete beginners to pre interclub.  Our coaching sessions are held once a week, here in Methven, we are very lucky to have Sarah Lock and Andre Van Rooyen as our club coaches.  This season we have introduced a third coach to the mix, Rhys Cromie, this has allowed us to provide top notch coaching to the kids every week.  We will be looking for registrations for the 2025/26 season in term three, keep an eye out on our Facebook page for more information.

For the first season in quite some time the Methven Tennis Club has had a team in the Mid Canterbury Tennis Open Grade Interclub Competition.  This team was made up of Sarah Lock, Rachel Wilson, Rhys Cromie, Jason Feutz and Isaac Williamson.  We are pleased to report that they came out top of the table for the 2024/25 season!  Congratulations!

We closed out the season with our Junior Club Champs.  Our 2024/25 Club Champions are:  A Reserve Trophy, donated by Ian & Sandra Marr Imogen Turney, Runner Up Logan Glass.  Junior A, David Molloy Family Cup Ava Mangin, Runner Up Holly Marett.  Junior B Trophy, donated by Ian & Kate Totty Isabella Barlass, Runner Up Elliot Russell.  Junior C Trophy, donated by John & Jane Wright Sophie Mangin, Runner Up Lucy Bayley.

You may have noticed that we have a new Historical Board on the side of the Clubhouse, this was a huge project taken on by Denise King, Erin Redfern and Sue Watson as part of the Club’s 125th Anniversary.  It looks fantastic and has great information about the Club in its early days.  If you’re heading past the Clubhouse, we encourage you to stop and have a read.

Thanks for a great season, we look forward to seeing everyone back in term four!
