Titahi Bay Tennis Club

Founded in 1926 the Titahi Bay Tennis Club is widely recognised across the Wellington Region for its support and development towards the game of tennis.

Through the vision and generosity of the Bell whanau to offer three sections of their land for the purposes of establishing a tennis and bowling club. The Tītahi Bay Tennis Club has since evolved and continued to grow over the years.

A significant fire in the 1970s wasn't enough to dampen the Club's spirit and drive to rebuild the building and facilities. That energy was matched in gaining consent to install lights at our Main Road location, giving the Club the core assets that continue to be beneficial in how we play and operate today.

Fast forward to 2026, the Club celebrated its centennial year, bringing together current and former members to acknowledge this wonderful occasion.

Our club has more than 120 affiliated members, consisting of a balanced senior and junior player mix. A significant portion of members are families, which reflects well on the clubs positioning as family friendly environment that provides for all levels of tennis ability.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

For Senior members, the Club runs a social club day on Thursday nights (6pm) and Sunday afternoons (1pm). This provides a great chance to meet members and enjoy a social doubles hit. Club days cater for all skill levels.  

We also run adult coaching for beginners.  This is based on demand and generally held around August/September.  

For our Junior members, the Club provides a free coaching programme - a service provided by Senior club members to encourage our Junior members to play tennis. 

Junior coaching is provided to children aged 5-17 on Sunday mornings and Junior Interclub training for teams on Tuesday afternoons/evening.  If you would like to know more about Juniors, please email the Junior Convenor (juniors@tbtc.nz).

Want to play more competitively?  InterClub competitions are administered by Tennis Capital Coast, the sport's regional organisation and provide for summer and winter, weekend and mid week opportunities to allow you to hit at various times and all year round.  We hope that there is something that suits your schedule and time commitments.

For the summer season, Tītahi Bay Tennis Club have a number of Senior Men’s, Women’s and Junior Interclub teams that cater for a range of playing abilities.  During the winter season, we generate enough interest to create a number of teams, making us one of the largest participating clubs in the competition. 

EVENTS

Club Championships:  These are usually held at the end of March after the Interclub season has finished.  There are separate events for Junior and Senior Championships.  

All financial members are eligible for entry into Club Championships.

VISITORS

Visitors who wish to play at the club must pay $5 per visit with a maximum of three visits before becoming a financial member.  Any visit payments will be deducted from the joining fee.

The fee can be paid via internet banking or put in the box at the club.
