About Us
For more than 90 years, Elmwood Tennis has been a prominent member of the Canterbury tennis playing community, providing members and their guests with quality facilities and numerous playing opportunities. Located next to the beautiful Elmwood Park in Merivale, the key features on offer include a wide range of memberships, 9 new first class tennis courts, a team of certified coaches and club rooms complete with a second floor bar providing uninterrupted views out over the courts and beyond. As a result our membership numbers have increased consistently over the past few years; these are some of the reasons why Elmwood Tennis is widely regarded as one of the best tennis clubs in New Zealand.
The Club has six "tiger turf" premium synthetic grass courts to the north of the clubhouse and three international grade "Rebound Ace" cushioned hardcourts at the rear. The synthetic grass courts were completely rebuilt and re-surfaced in 2015, with the hardcourts following a year later.
Upstairs, our Pavilion has a large outdoor viewing deck with frameless glass railings where people may sit to enjoy the sunshine whilst watching the tennis on the courts below. Inside is a fully licenced bar for the enjoyment of our members and their guests. Our members spend many an afternoon enjoying each other’s company, whilst sipping on one of the many refreshments we have on offer!
Elmwood has a growing, vibrant membership suitable for all ages and welcomes new enquiries. Our membership caters for all standards, so whether you are new to tennis or are of a higher level, Elmwood Tennis has a category of membership that will meet your needs. We provide for both social membership and those wishing to play interclub.
