Welcome to North Otago Tennis

Introduction

Welcome to North Otago Tennis! We promote the sport of tennis across North Otago and offer programmes - for juniors, seniors and masters players, from beginners to seasoned pros - in Ōamaru, Kurow, Ōmārama, Twizel and Waimate.

Our headquarters are in Ōamaru, at 39A Chelmer St, and have:

12 grass courts
A clubhouse with a kitchen, large lounge, bar and changing rooms with toilets and showers.

The 2024/25 season will get underway from October 21, 2024 for Juniors and October 31, 2024 for Seniors. Our annual Love Tennis Open Day will be held on October 13, 2024, from 10am-2pm. Head to our Facebook page for all the updates!

What We Offer:

Hot Shots

For those just starting out. Our coaches will run through skills with the kids.

Mondays - Kurow

Tuesdays - Omarama, Twizel and Waimate

Wednesdays - Ōamaru

Beginners (Red): Discovering and developing tennis specific skills including an introduction to specific tennis strokes, basic strategies and the rally.

Intermediate (Orange): Exploring and developing more complex tennis specific skills in conjunction with additional and more complex game related strategies.

Advanced (Green): Refining more complex tennis specific skills and game related strategies and completing the transition to full-court tennis.

Junior Development

The Junior competition is an opportunity for juniors to progress from Hot Shots and practice their skills hitting, serving and scoring.

Senior Competition

Teams of four, playing a Fast 4 format. All levels are catered for.
When: Thursdays, 6pm start
Where: Chelmer St Grass Courts, Ōamaru

Masters

We have a great group of Masters players (age 30+) who get together to play tennis every Sunday. North Otago Masters also play several representative fixtures throughout the season in Ōamaru and around the lower South Island.

When: Sundays, 10am
Where: Chelmer St Grass Courts (summer) and Waitaki Boys' High School (winter - and if wet)

Representative

A variety of other tournaments and representative fixtures are played throughout the season. Get in touch to find out more!
