Opawa Tennis Club

Junior Coaching

Our club has more than 130 Junior players. We provide a variety of options for young players to become a member of our club. All subscriptions include an annual membership to the club as well as different coaching options depending on the age and interests of your player.

Our Junior players benefit from the following coaching options:

  • Red Ball Hot Shots  5 – 7 years old . Saturdays 8.30-9.15am or Thursday 3.30-4:15pm.Players receive approximately 8 weeks of coaching in Term 4 and Term 1 plus annual membership. Players must have a caregiver on the courts.

 

  • Orange Ball Hot Shots  Approx 6-8 years old Saturdays 8.30-9.15am or Saturdays 9.15-10am or Thursdays 3.30-4.15pm. For players who have already been through our Red Ball programme or who are slightly more experienced. Players receive approximately 8 weeks of coaching in Term 4 and Term 1 plus annual membership   

 

  • Green Ball Hot Shots 8-12 years old Saturdays 9.15-10.15am or Mondays 3.30-4:30pm. Players receive approximately 8 weeks of coaching in Term 4 and Term 1 plus annual membership.

 

  • Junior Interclub Approximately 9 years old & up Players are grouped in teams of 4-5. Players receive approximately 8 weeks of team coaching in Term 4 & Term 1 plus annual membership. Coaching nights are Mondays or Thursdays. They play a match on a Saturday morning. (Friday afternoons also available)   

 

  • Winter coaching/School holiday clinic options as well as private lessons are available through our club coaches from Red Stripe Tennis. redstripetennis@gmail.com

 

  • The club also provide social events for the juniors as well as club champs and friendly tournaments.

 

  • Get involved in the club!  Encourage independence - Opawa Tennis Club is a great place to hang out!

Hot Shots 2026- Red/Orange/Green Ball Players
Term 1 coaching

Term one coaching will be held at St Martins Valley Tennis Club while some of the Opawa courts are being resurfaced. 

  • Saturday groups: 31 January - 28 March
  • Monday groups: 2 February - 30 March
  • Thursday groups: 5 February - 26 March
  • Note: No coaching Waitangi weekend. 

 

JUNIOR CLUB  CHAMPS

This season we will be running our Junior club champs on Sundays in March from approx. 9-1pm. Times and location (Opawa/St Martins Courts) to be confirmed depending on numbers. Players will play a minimum of two singles games.
