OCTOBER 2024

Hello members

An extra bonus of having our lawn courts in Hagley Park, is being in such close proximity to the Botanic Gardens.  This month, if you take a wander before or after tennis, you will find what blooms in October: Rhododendrons, Bearded Irises, Azaleas, Magnolias and the annual bedding display.

However the biggest news this week is that our lawn courts on Row 5 should be up and running this weekend .   Bryce, Trevor and Alex have been hard at work - measuring and painting, installing posts and nets. Thank you for your hard work.

Planning for our 50th Anniversary Lawn Tournament (January 2025) is well underway.  Should you not be entering yourself that weekend (and we encourage you to enter), please let us know if you can help out in any other way, either before or during the event.  If you have hospitality contacts we could utilise, please let us know.

We warmly welcome new members:

Another satisfied customer!

Pictured is the Craftsman, Trevor Lau, Club President, and the Client, Linda Ding parked on another new bench seat on court 1.  Many thanks for the donation by Linda & Steven Ding.

Trevor has two more benches in progress for the end of court 4, with thanks to donations by Jeff Field and Liz Collins, through the Collins-Davies Family Trust.

Trevor then has plans for a bigger, back-to-back, bench to go between courts 2 and 3.

Special thanks to Darren Allen aka ‘Dazza’ who kindly welded the frames on the first bench.

Next week the Summer season is officially underway and interclub team coaching begins.  We are stoked to have 18 junior teams representing our club this season and our coaching team is looking forward to helping all our players put their best foot forward this season.  More info will be sent out to all parents in the coming days about draws and team management.

Our HOT SHOTS coaching will also commence at the end of next week, Friday 18/10 and Saturday 19/10.  Our coaching team can’t wait to meet all the new players we have signed up to our club this year, and also continue to help build the skills of our players continuing on our player pathway.
