History

Founded in 1905, the Muritai Tennis Club has the honour of being the first and therefore the oldest sports club in Eastbourne and it was an important social centre in the community.

It began with one hard court opposite its present location and gradually expanded to four courts where it is now.

Regular dances and an annual ball were held to fundraise for the clubhouse which was built in 1935.
