Orewa Tennis Club: Code of Conduct

Anyone who wishes to attend Orewa Tennis Club in any capacity, including, but not limited to: members, players, parents, guardians, and spectators must meet the following requirements regarding their conduct. Failure to do so may result in being asked to leave.

 

All individuals involved in tennis will treat everyone else respectfully. The Club will not accept any behaviour which may cause any physical or mental harm to any other member, player or spectator.

  • Treat all attendees as you like to be treated: do not bully or take an unfair advantage of others; ensure language, presentation, manner and punctuality reflect high standards
  • Respect the rights, dignity, opinions and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, religion any other forms of discrimination;
  • Try to contribute to a positive club atmosphere which encourages others to participate. This includes cooperating with coaches, managers, players, teammates and opponents
  • Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealings with others; use the appropriate rules and guidelines to resolve disputes
  • Maintain a safe environment for the conduct of all club related activities; Do not use any prohibited substances or engage in gaming.
  • Control your temper/language/gestures. Do not deliberately distract or provoke others and refrain from ball / racquet abuse;
  • Be a positive role model at all times.

Particularly with children

  • Encourage participation without pushing too hard
  • Focus on the child’s efforts rather than winning or losing
  • Respect the decisions of officials and coaches and teach children to do likewise; and
  • Show appreciation for players, coaches, officials, administrators and spectators.

If you are concerned about any behaviour you have observed, please raise your concerns in writing by emailing orewatennis@gmail.com or post to Orewa Tennis Club, PO Box 330, Orewa 0946. We will acknowledge receipt of the email within 10 days and will revert within 10 days of the next committee meeting. We need you to provide the following information:

 

  1. Your name 
  2. Telephone number 
  3. Date of the incident 
  4. Details of formal complaint, (what happened and who was involved) 
  5. What can we do to put things right.
