Tennis One Is Expanding to Nelson | Coaching at Nelson Lawn Tennis Club Starts August 2026

Tennis One , Auckland's award-winning tennis coaching programme and Tennis New Zealand Club of the Year 2024–25  is officially expanding its coaching operations to the South Island, signing with Nelson Lawn Tennis Club to deliver structured tennis coaching programmes beginning August 2026.

Tennis One Is Coming to Nelson

For the past several years, Tennis One has been building something at Mission Bay Tennis Club that Auckland hadn't quite seen before,  beginner to advanced coaching programmes for adults and juniors, sold-out social events, a waiting list culture, and a community that genuinely keeps showing up week after week.

That model is now moving beyond Auckland.

Tennis One has officially signed with Nelson Lawn Tennis Club ,  one of the most storied clubs in New Zealand, established in 1925 to bring its coaching programmes and community first approach to Nelson, beginning August 2026.

This is not a franchise. It is not a template being dropped into a new city. It is Tennis One taking everything that has worked at Mission Bay and building it again, properly, in one of New Zealand's most beautiful regions.

Meet the Coach Leading the Expansion: Alejandro Viedma

Every great coaching programme begins with the right person on the court.

Alejandro Viedma has been a core part of the Tennis One coaching team at Mission Bay Tennis Club. Players who have trained with him already know what he brings,  technical precision, genuine investment in player progress, and the kind of energy that makes people want to come back to the court.

Alejandro will be relocating to Nelson to take on the role of Head Coach at Nelson Lawn Tennis Club, where he will lead the development and delivery of Tennis One's coaching programmes across all levels, juniors, adults, beginners, and competitive players alike.

His move to Nelson marks the beginning of a new chapter; both for him and for Tennis One as an organisation.

What This Expansion Means for Tennis One

Tennis One was recognised as Tennis Auckland and Tennis New Zealand Club of the Year 2024–25 , an acknowledgment of what happens when coaching quality, community culture, and consistent programming come together in the right environment.

Nelson Lawn Tennis Club, with nearly a century of history behind it, provides exactly the kind of foundation that a serious coaching programme deserves. The club's heritage, its facilities, and its existing player community make it the right home for Tennis One's next chapter.

For players in Nelson, whether you are picking up a racket for the first time or returning to the game after years away, what is coming in August 2026 has been built with you in mind.
