Southern Lakes Competes at South Island Super Seniors Tournament

The Southern Lakes tennis team participated in the South Island Super Seniors Tournament held in Dunedin last weekend (over-55 years). We played Canterbury, Canterbury Country, Otago, South Canterbury, and Southland/North Otago.

We had some great matches, including a standout win over the eventual champions, Canterbury Country. However we didn’t quite get over the line against Canterbury and Southland/North Otago the runners up. The standard of tennis keeps going up, and it was fantastic to be part of such a competitive weekend.

The team included members from both the Wanaka and Queenstown Tennis Clubs. Representing Wanaka were Jules Mumford, Nigel Buckingham, Adam Horan, James Docking, Chris Raynes, Allan Martin, George Heymell, Andrew Jackson, Liza Crotty, Jenny Chisholm, Daphne Ledgerwood, Louise Kane, and Joan Lloyd. Players from Queenstown included Felicity Oxneitvad, Karen Mitchell, Teresa Chapman, Sarah Patterson, Jeff Elliotte, and John Duffy.

The weekend was a great success, filled with good tennis, plenty of laughs and good company.
