What a fantastic day of tennis we enjoyed yesterday at the club. While it would have been great to see a few more entries, the players and spectators who attended were treated to a full day of highly competitive and enjoyable tennis—certainly something to build on for next year.
There were some excellent contests across both the main draw and the consolation rounds, with many closely fought matches throughout the day.
Finals Results
The Men’s Final saw Alistair Hunt take the title with a strong performance over Harry James.
In the Women’s Final, Laura Servien defeated Nicola Berthelsen—a particularly impressive result given both players are new to the club.
Junior Highlights
It was especially encouraging to see four juniors competing: Jackson Parrant, Caio Crockett, Bella Currie, and Franca Edgar, all of whom performed admirably.
Jackson had an outstanding day, winning his opening match in the men’s draw, while Franca came through a close contest against Bella in the women’s consolation draw.
In recognition of their efforts—and to revive a tradition not seen for some years—we were delighted to award:
- Junior Boys Singles Cup: Jackson Parrant
- Junior Girls Singles Cup: Franca Edgar
Consolation Winners
- Men’s Consolation: Marc Magee
- Women’s Consolation: Jules Bruer
Match of the Day
The longest and arguably most thrilling match of the day was between James Forster and Jason Parrant, which went to a third-set tiebreak. James ultimately came out on top in what was a fantastic and exciting way to kick off the tournament.
