Spring is on the way at Wānaka Tennis Club
Opening Day & AGM — Saturday 17 October
Our Opening Day Tournament and AGM will be held on Saturday 17 October.
Opening Day is always a great opportunity to get everyone back together, enjoy some tennis and officially kick off the summer season. Whether you’ve been playing right through winter or your racquet has been having a few months off, we’d love to see you there.
More details on the format and timings will follow closer to the day.
Crown Range Cup — Saturday 10 October
First up is the Crown Range Cup on Saturday 10 October.
This is the Wanaka v Queenstown doubles competition and has quickly become a great addition to the Southern Lakes tennis calendar. There’ll be some competitive tennis, plenty of friendly rivalry across the Crown Range and a good social day off court as well.

Wednesday Night Social Competition returns
Our popular Wednesday Night Social Teams Competition gets underway on Wednesday 28 October.
This is always one of the highlights of the Club’s spring and early-summer programme — competitive enough to make things interesting, but with plenty of emphasis on the social side too.
We’re delighted that the competition will once again be sponsored by Matt Ecroyd from Bayleys Real Estate. A big thank you to Matt for his continued support of the Club and this popular competition.
Entries will open towards the end of September, so start thinking about getting a team together. We’ll send out full entry details once registrations open.
Southern Lakes Junior Closed — Sunday 1 November
We’re looking forward to welcoming junior players to the Club for the Southern Lakes Junior Closed Tournament on Sunday 1 November.
It’s always great to see the next generation of players competing, and we encourage members to come down and support the juniors if you’re around.
Regional Division 1 comes to Wānaka
Wānaka will again host the Regional Division 1 Competition on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November.
This is a chance to see some of the best players from around the southern region in action right here at the Club.

Entries and further details will be available closer to the time, but these are popular events, so it’s worth getting the dates into your summer calendar now.

The Club Champs produced some terrific tennis this year and we’d love to see another strong turnout across all grades in 2027.

Their sponsorship has made a real contribution to our junior programme and we’re very grateful for the support they’ve given the Club and our young players during that time.

Membership renewals coming up
A reminder that Club memberships are due for renewal at the end of September.
