Junior sessions run in Term 4 2026 and Term 1 2027. Registrations for the season will be open shortly.

Important Dates and Session Times for Hotshots (Junior Beginner Tennis Programme)

Hot Shots starts 12th September 2026

No sessions 24th October and 14th November 2026

Term 1 starts back on 13th February 2027

Hot Shots : Learning tennis skills, having fun.

There are 3 sessions for Hotshots held on a Saturday during term time:

RED BALL: 5 to 7 year-olds, 9.15am to 10am

ORANGE BALL: 8 to 10 year olds, 10am to 10.45am

GREEN BALL: 10 years plus. 10.45am to 11.30am

Important Dates for Interclub Players

Junior interclub players have one coaching session per week either on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday between 4.30pm - 6.30pm.

Junior coaching: Starts week of the 12th October 2026

Restarts week of 9th February 2026 and runs until the week of the 15 March 2027.

Junior interclub starts:  Pre Christmas 16 - 17 October to 11 - 12 December 2026 Post Christmas 29 - 39 January to 19 - 20 March 2027

Junior Club Champs: Date for March 2027 TBC

Start times for Interclub matches on Saturdays:

8.30am Girls and Boys 10 & under and most 12 & under.

10.30am Girls and Boys 14 & under and Girls and Boys Open.

Membership 2026/27 Season

There are two membership categories:

• HotShots  for younger children aged 5 years + who are just beginning to learn to play
• Juniors  (19 years and under) which covers children / young adults who are capable of playing in teams, and receive one coaching session each week.

The Interclub competition

The club participates as a team in the Interclub competition organised by Canterbury Tennis. Junior and Intermediate tennis are mostly played on Friday evenings/Saturday mornings, at venues around Christchurch. For parents of junior players, the club allows access to the courts for play without requiring a full senior membership. This provides access for one year.

Once your payment has been confirmed, your access fob will be left in an envelope on the counter at the Club for you to collect when you next drop your junior off for their session. For times to collect outside of this, there is usually play on a Saturday afternoon from 1 - 4pm or club coaches there in the afternoons and early evening during Term 1 & 4.
