Newlands has a thriving junior programme with a wide range of age groups and abilities.

We offer junior club days, small group coaching, weekend interclub, and other events including tournaments and BBQs – all aimed at providing fun and physical activity for our junior members. Please do not hesitate to contact our junior convenor with any questions.

Coaching by One Community Tennis

Coaching this season will be delivered by One Community Tennis Coaching. Our qualified coaches run fun sessions while teaching the core skills of tennis. It's a great way to teach kids the game and advance their capabilities. 

Junior Club Afternoon

Our Junior tennis programme runs through Term 4 and Term 1 - 2026.  It pauses over the summer holidays.

The programme is held on Tuesdays (club days), Wednesdays (additional coaching available), beginning in week 1 of Term 4, through to the end of Term 1 2027. These are run by our qualified coaching team. Tuesday sessions are free with membership - Juniors are organised into age group/capability and do a range of drills and fun games. Time slots depend on the group and age groups are indicative, as ability is also taken into account.

TUESDAY JUNIOR CLUB DAYS

5 - 7 years: 3.30 - 4.15pm

8 - 9 years: 4.15 - 5pm

9 - 12 years: 5 - 5.45pm

13+ years: 5.45 - 6.30pm

Cancellations

If a Tuesday or Wednesday session is cancelled due to wet weather, we will notify participants as soon as we can to let them know by email and also through posts on our Facebook page.

Interclub

We encourage all our juniors to give interclub a go. Run on Sunday mornings there are grades for all capabilities. If your child can hit the ball over the net, they'll be good to go!

Games are played against other local clubs in singles and doubles formats.

Matches are played thrpough term 4 2026 and term 1 2027, either at NPTC or at other Wellington based clubs.

The first Interclub match of the season is in early October. If you are interested in playing interclub please let us know.
