Junior Interclub

Once your child has developed the foundations through our Saturday group sessions, we encourage them to consider joining an Interclub team. It’s a great next step to help them continue learning, challenge themselves, and enjoy tennis with their friends.

Registration for the 2026–27 Junior Interclub season is coming soon!

Teams require a minimum of four players and are organised according to age and playing ability, ensuring every player has a positive and supportive competitive experience. Teams may include both boys and girls, and we aim to select squads with enough players to support the team throughout the season, including cover for weeks when some players may be unavailable.

Junior Interclub matches are played at the following times:

• Saturday mornings from 8:30am
• Sunday mornings from 9:00am

Families can choose the day that works best for their schedule and commitments.

For players who are new to competition or just beginning their match play journey, we also offer beginner-friendly Interclub options:

• Saturday afternoons at 12:30pm
• Sunday mornings at 9:00am

A Team Effort

Junior Interclub is made possible through the support of our wonderful families. Parents and caregivers play an important role by helping with transport, supporting team organisation, and encouraging all players throughout the season.

A parent or caregiver must be present at all times during Interclub. We welcome and encourage families to get involved in helping manage teams and creating a positive, enjoyable experience for all our junior players.

Together, we can make Junior Interclub a highlight of the tennis season and a great experience for every child involved.

Charman Trophy

Each year, five local clubs come together for the annual Charman Trophy – a fun, friendly tournament designed especially for our lower-grade junior players.

The tournament is contested between Bucklands Beach, Cockle Bay, Howick, Sunnyhills, and Pakuranga, providing a fantastic opportunity for young players to enjoy some friendly competition, meet players from neighbouring clubs, and represent their club in a relaxed team environment.

This year's Charman Trophy will be held on Sunday 21 March, from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, followed by a prizegiving and BBQ.

Players compete across five age groups:

• Under 11
• Under 12
• Under 13
• Under 14
• Under 15

Each age group is allocated to one of the five host clubs, where players compete in doubles matches throughout the afternoon. Teams play against each of the other clubs in 25-minute matches, using standard table tennis scoring with five serves each.

At the end of each match, the total points scored determine the points awarded to each club. Once all matches across every age group have been completed, the club with the highest overall points is crowned the Charman Trophy champion.

The Charman Trophy is always one of the highlights of the junior calendar, combining great competition, teamwork, and plenty of fun both on and off the court.

Junior Club Championships

Every May, we celebrate our Junior Club Championships — a fun and exciting event open to all boys and girls of all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner player or already competing regularly, our Junior Club Champs are a great opportunity to get involved, enjoy some friendly internal competition and compete for club titles within your club. It’s a fantastic day of tennis, fun and sportsmanship.  We encourage all our junior members to take part!
