Clubhouse hiring information

Hiring of Pukerua Bay Tennis Clubhouse for Private Functions

The clubhouse is owned by Pukerua Bay Tennis Club (the Club) and is hired to members of the community solely at the Club’s discretion. The Club reserves the right to decline expressions of interest and to impose exclusions and exceptions. One exclusion is that the Club does not hire the clubhouse for people wanting to celebrate events, such as 18th or 21st birthday parties (although we may re-consider this matter for our club members). Tennis activities take precedence over private functions, so there may be occasions during the tennis season when the clubhouse cannot be hired. However, we try to be as accommodating as we can because we recognise the clubhouse is a tremendous community asset.

All bookings must be processed through the delegated Club committee member. This requirement applies to all existing key holders, Club members and other similar persons.

The clubhouse has a functional kitchen with free-standing oven, wall-mounted hot water urn, dishwasher and microwave. Bring your own barbeque for cooking outdoors and tidy up accordingly. Plates, bowls and mugs are available; you will need to bring your own glasses and utensils.

We supply cleaning products and equipment. Towels, tea towels and cloths are provided and we do the laundry.

The outside deck can be child-proofed. There is a sheet of plywood behind a couch that can be slotted into position above the top steps. Please remember to put the plywood away when locking up.

Any arrangement to use the stored toys is strictly between the Hirer and the PKB Play Group. The Club will not be part of these discussions or have any responsibility for the toys used.

COVID-19

As from 5 April 2022, the clubhouse is open to everyone regardless of vaccination status. The person in charge of the hiring group is responsible for adherence to public health measures that are in force at the time.

General rules

  1. No smoking indoors. Put ash trays outside and remove all butts from lawns as part of clean-up.
  2. Alcohol on premises is BYO only (unless you have a liquor permit for the event).
  3. Turn down music and bring your people indoors after midnight out of respect for the neighbours.
  4. Keep your people off the tennis courts (unless this is part of the rental arrangement and you comply with Porirua City Council’s code of practice on using a public facility).
  5. No fires at any time.
  6. Lock the doors and windows securely and return key by arranged time.

Care and cleaning

  1. The clubhouse can be decorated prior to your booking time (if it is not in use earlier). We will do our best to be flexible to ensure you get set up and have a great experience.  Please do not drive staples or nails into walls, ceiling, door and window frames, and so on.
  2. Lift the couches when re-arranging the furniture (to protect the floor), and please put it all back again as it was found.
  3. Sweep and wash the wooden floors using water and methylated spirits formula (buckets, mops, product and instructions provided) or use your own steam mop.
  4. Clean all surfaces throughout the clubhouse with special attention to kitchen and bathrooms.
  5. Tidy and clean outside on deck, lawns and paths as required.
  6. Remove all food from the premises or leave in fridge if prior arranged.
  7. Clean fridge.
  8. Remove all rubbish and recyclables.

Please report any damage or breakages.  Repair, replace or pay accordingly.

We hope you enjoy our fabulous facilities and have a lovely time.
