Isaac Walton from Coast Tennis is our Head Coach at the Waikanae Beach Tennis Club.

Isaac offers adult coaching sessions, great for learning tennis or picking up where you left off. He also has a full junior coaching programme that suits children of all ages and abilities.

Junior Coaching Programme (School Terms)

Red Stage (45 minutes)
For 5 to 8 year olds

  • Focus on developing tennis-specific skills like ball tracking and movement
  • Eye-hand coordination with an emphasis on early stroke development
  • Introduces point scoring and rallying through fun games
  • Cost: $100 per child ($95 for multiple children or squads)
  • Times: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 3:30pm - 4:15pm – please email Isaac for availability

Orange Stage (1 Hour)
For 8 to 10 year olds

  • Focus on technical development of various tennis strokes
  • Learning the game, including match play, starting a point, and court positioning
  • Early player development to prepare for competitive tennis and tournaments through drills and games
  • Cost: $130 per child ($125 for multiple children or squads)
  • Times: Monday/Wednesday 3:30pm - 4:30pm or Friday 4:15pm - 5:15pm – please email Isaac for availability

Green Stage (1 Hour)
For 9+ years of age

  • Advanced technical development of strokes, including a wider range of shots
  • Higher level tactical strategies through match play, drills, and games
  • Designed for players preparing for Interclub and tournaments
  • Cost: $130 per child ($125 for multiple children or squads)
  • Times: Monday/Wednesday 4:30pm - 5:30pm or Friday 5:15pm - 6:15pm – please email Isaac for availability

Yellow Stage - by invitation only (1.5 hours)

Private Lessons
For 8+ years old

  • Focus on early technical development
  • Aimed at creating top young players
  • Designed for players pursuing the tennis athlete development pathway
  • Cost: $60 per hour / $30 per half hour

Additional Information

  • Squads: Emphasise tactical awareness and build match-play experience in a supportive team environment.
  • Private Lessons: Focus on individual improvement areas, reinforced during squad practice.

Interclub Options

Junior interclub is an excellent way for young players to develop their tennis skills.

Waikanae Beach Tennis Club offers various interclub teams, from Novice Hot Shots to A-D Grades. Interclub participation is suitable for players in the Orange Stage and above.
