The Derek Ward Champs will once again be held for secondary school students during Term 1.  This event was named after the late Derek Ward, who suggested this concept as a way of encouraging the top tennis players in the region, to represent their schools in a competitive one-day format.   He also suggested that running this event during the day would also encourage players to participate.  He was right and for the past two years this event has achieved all that it was designed to do.
