February 2026 Newsletter

Kia Ora Members, Families, Sponsors and Friends of Burnside Park Tennis Club,

Welcome to our latest club update as we head into another busy and exciting period at Burnside Park.

I can't believe we are already into February. Thankfully, the weather has largely been on our side, giving us long, warm days on the courts. These summer evenings are some of the best opportunities to enjoy your tennis, so please make the most of them while you can.

Firstly, I would like to welcome two very special future club members. Committee member Jack Armstrong, and his wife welcomed twin girls in late December. Congratulations to you both on this exciting new chapter. We look forward to seeing the girls around the club and, who knows, on the courts in the years ahead.

We also need to farewell our Junior Administrator, Jade, who is heading to Auckland to begin a new role. Jade has been a valued part of the club, and we sincerely thank her for the effort, energy, and commitment she has shown over the past few years. We wish her every success in her next adventure and hope she keeps in touch.  Until a new Junior Administrator is appointed please contact our Head Coach, Remi, for any Junior Tennis questions coach@burnsideparktennis.com or phone 021901168

Midweek tennis continues every Tuesday and Thursday, and it's a great way to get involved, meet other members, and enjoy some friendly competition. The groups would love to welcome a few new faces.

Important notes in our February newsletter includes the info for our keycard change over next week, and also the start dates for Junior Tennis.

As we move further into the year, the club is also seeking new sponsorship support. Sponsorship plays an important role in helping us maintain our facilities, support player development, and continue offering opportunities for our members. If you own a business, or know of a business that may be interested in supporting the club, please contact our Club President, David James, president@burnsideparktennis.com for more information.

Finally, for those who like to stay informed about club matters, the November 2025  and December 2025 committee meeting minutes were approved at the committee meeting last week.  These are are available in the documents section of our website.

Lastly I would like to personally thank the team at Christchurch City Council for organising the repair to the driveway where the big hole/dip was (by the Lions Club corner) and some surrounding potholes.  This will make a big difference to our vehicles.  Its nice to have it all fixed before winter arrives again.

We look forward to seeing you around the courts over the coming weeks.

Kind Regards

Jo
