Junior Tennis

Hot Shots

Our Junior Hot Shots Tennis coaching programme caters for children aged 4 to 15 years old. The programme runs during terms 1 and 4 only.

​The programme reinforces international best practice - promoting the game using a learning through play philosophy meaning kids learn TENNIS rather than just technique. There are plenty of opportunities for play through sessions based around fun, tactical play, skills and social development.Our coaches ensure that every child is playing with the correct size racquets, balls, and nets.  The programme allows players to fit into the correct group based on their ability, while also maintaining the flexibility to move players through the various levels as and when they begin to progress.

We run 4 groups on Saturday mornings :

  • 8 30 to 9 15 for 4, 5, 6 years old.
  • 9 15 to 10 00 for 7 and 8 years old. 
  • 10 00  to 10 45 for 9, 10 and 11 years old. 
  • 10 45 to 11 30 for 12 and over.

For 2024/2025 Season

Hotshots will commence on 12th October.  Register NOW to secure your child's spot.

 

Junior Interclub

Junior interclub is a competition run by Tennis Canterbury and is open to all juniors through to 18 years of age, covering a range of abilities.  It is played across a wide range of clubs and locations throughout Christchurch.  Interclub Tennis is a great environment to further our junior tennis talent.

Junior Interclub starts the week of the 14th October with the competitions starting on 18th October.  Register NOW to secure your child's spot.

An Interclub trials day will be held on Saturday 17th August for those children who havent played interclub tennis before and are thinking they might be ready.  This will be at the courts at 4pm.  Contact our Club Coach Remi for further information.

No Play Labour Weekend or Canterbury Show Weekend.

 

Junior Private Coaching

Burnside Tennis Club also provides private coaching sessions for Junior Players of all ages and abilities who wish to get a more one-on-one approach to improve their game.  Our coaches are passionate, experienced and knowledgeable about the game of tennis and will help your child reach their next level.
