Papamoa Tennis Club is delighted to welcome Austen Childs to our coaching team.

Originally from Tauranga, Austen brings a wealth of high-performance experience combined with a genuine passion for developing players at every level. His playing career includes being New Zealand 18s National Champion, achieving a world junior ranking of No. 40, and reaching the Quarter Finals of the Junior Australian Open. He later earned a Division I scholarship to the University of Louisville in the USA, becoming a three-time All-American and a top-10 nationally ranked collegiate player.

Austen has represented New Zealand in the Davis Cup, including winning the deciding singles match in a memorable home tie, and has since built an impressive coaching career in the United States. Since 2012, he has coached at Division I and III universities and at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, working with juniors, adults, and competitive players alike.
