ABOUT Tennis Western BOP:
Tennis WBOP Regional Tennis Organisation (Inc) is a not-for-profit sporting organisation that has the responsibility for the promotion, development and administration of tennis in the Western Bay of Plenty region.
It supports and works with its 10 affiliated clubs, and its direction rests with a Delegates' Committee that represents all clubs. Day-to-day management is led by the Executive Committee, which is comprised of five elected members and a contracted Regional Development Manager.
The home of Tennis Western BOP is the Venture Developments WBOP Tennis Centre (at Papamoa Tennis Club).

MISSION Statement: To promote, develop and advance the sport of tennis by providing access to facilities and services to members by supporting affiliated clubs and their programmes.

STRATEGIC Objectives:
- Promote, encourage and develop tennis as a fun and healthy sport for players of member clubs and the community in general in the Tennis Western BOP area.
- Develop opportunities, programmes and facilities to enable, encourage and enhance the participation, enjoyment and performance in tennis in the Tennis Western BOP area and in its activities.
- Affiliate all member clubs to Tennis NZ either directly or via Tennis Waikato Bays.
- Operate and maintain a financially healthy and responsible organisation supported by sponsorship, membership affiliation fees and community funding.
- Engage employees and contractors to help develop the skills and capabilities of employees, club volunteers and coaches.
- Provide a voice for tennis in the Association area and advocate for better tennis outcomes to Tennis NZ, Tennis Waikato Bays, other regional tennis organisations, local community groups and local bodies.
- Be the representative of member clubs for Tennis NZ and Tennis Waikato Bays if requested.
- Encourage the participation of juniors and provide a pathway for playing opportunities for all players in schools, clubs and representative levels.
- Facilitate and organise tournaments, interclub and representative matches and other tennis competitions and events to maximise playing opportunities for competitive players.
- Support member clubs to grow membership and the participation of the community in tennis.
Tennis is one of the most widely played sports in the world, and it is a sport for life. As a non-contact sport, it does not carry major risk, and players do not need expensive equipment. It is great for whanau bonding as it is an easy sport to play. Tennis is gender-neutral, providing opportunities for males and females to compete with and against each other. Introducing people to tennis in our region will contribute to a healthier, more active population.

Tennis Western BOP hosts two major events every year:
Zespri AIMS Games (September) - One of the largest junior sporting events in the Southern Hemisphere. The AIMS Games welcomes around 14K athletes, representing around 400 schools in 27 different Tennis Clubsporting codes. EVEs Open ITF World Tennis Tour (December) - Men and women with official ATP and WTA ranking points come and battle it out at Papamoa Tennis Club; a world-class knock-out competition with 32 singles draws for men and women, 16 pairs doubles draws.
