Membership Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all members of Talavera Tennis Club. By joining, you agree to follow them and help keep our club safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

Membership and fees

1. You become a member once the Club has received your fee payment, and you have agreed to these terms and conditions and to adhere to the Club’s constitution (link to come).

2. Membership continues year to year, as long as you pay your annual fees and follow club rules.

3. Players registering for coaching at Talavera need to be a member of Talavera Tennis club. If you are a member of another club, you still need to join and pay a reduced fee (you will not need to pay a second affiliation fee).

4. Any junior members must have a parent as a member, in line with Tennis NZ requirements. If you are not playing separately or with your children, you can join free as a non-playing member.

5. Fees can be paid when registering online, by credit card, or directly to the club bank account:

Talavera Municipal Tennis Club – 03 0502 0162333 000 (include the member name as a reference).

6. On payment of your fees, you will be sent the access code for the membership year. A condition of membership is that you do not share the code with people who are not members.

7. The club is run by a small committee of volunteers. All members are welcome to join the committee or provide support where they can. You can find committee member email addresses on the Contact us page.

Using the facilities

  1. All conduct and behaviour while using the facilities is to be of a high, publicly acceptable standard. This includes but is not limited to: use of acceptable language, acceptable noise levels and general standards of public behaviour. Members are responsible for their playing or non-playing guests.
  2. Members can use club facilities between 7am and 9.30pm, as long as there is not a prior booking. You need to book a court to ensure it’s available.
  3. We have lights you can turn on at the switchbox at the city end of the clubhouse (inside). They turn off automatically. They are programmed to stop working at 9.30pm, as a courtesy to neighbours.
  4. Members can bring a guest (non-member) to watch or play. There is a guest player fee of $5 per visit, which you can pay into the honesty box on the back of the main door into the clubroom or to the club bank account (see Membership and fees – item 3 for account number). If your guest wants to play more than twice, they need to join the club.
  5. Any coaching at the courts is to be determined and coordinated by the coaching provider approved by the committee (see Coaching information of website). Friends or family members may give basic instruction to each other.
  6. Tidy tennis attire and non-marking tennis footwear are to be worn on court.
  7. Alcoholic beverages and/or glass containers are not to be taken onto the courts.
  8. Food is not to be consumed on the courts.
  9. Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere on the property.
  10. Illegal substances must not be brought onto the property.
  11. Dogs are not permitted on the courts.
  12. No rollerblading, skateboarding or other activities are allowed, as they could damage the courts.
  13. When you leave the property at the end of your booking, please ensure all doors and windows are closed and locked and any keys returned to their usual location. Take any rubbish with you – the rubbish bins are only cleared infrequently.
  14. Report any issues, incidents, accidents or injuries to the committee.

Booking a court

To book a court, use the website booking system to ensure it is available.

  1. In making a court booking you agree to fully abide by these  terms and conditions and those set out in the ClubSpark (website provider) terms and conditions available on the website.
  2. You need to be a member at the time of booking. You need to have registered on the club website and be logged in.
  3. You can book one court, for up to 1.5 hours maximum on any day. You can book on the day and up to 28 days in advance.
  4. Should your plans change, please cancel any booking you make as soon as possible to enable others to take the slot.

Regular club days

There are currently two regular club days for senior members, meaning the courts are unavailable for member bookings.

As a guide, you need to be able to serve and return the ball. Seniors are warmly invited to join in – email one of the organisers listed on the Contact us page.

Other club activities

  1. There will be other days during the year when the courts will not be available for booking. For example, the annual working bee, junior club days and Annual General Meeting. We will notify members by email of specific activities or events and the opportunity to join in.
  2. The committee may occasionally take photos, for example to promote the club online. If you do not wish to be photographed, or for your child to be photographed, please let the photographer know at the time or contact a committee member to let them know.

These terms are subject to change at the discretion of the Talavera Tennis Club committee. We will advise club members if changes are made.

Let’s work together to make our club a great place to play and connect.
