Wairarapa Junior Representative Coach, Jacob Emery:

This will be Jacob's fourth year as a WTA coach. Previously he coached in Wellington for 15 years, working with aspiring juniors. In 2018, Jacob was awarded NZ Performance Coach of the Year by Tennis NZ and is currently setting up New Zealand's first clay court training facility in Wairarapa to help junior players from all over New Zealand achieve their goals.

Being a NZ qualified coach, Jacob adheres to the TNZ Participation Protection Policy. He understands that if the players are having fun and are in a supportive environment, they will play their best and develop as good people as well as good players. (read Jacob's bio here)

Jacob will have two assistant coaches supporting him this year, who have recently immigrated from South Africa. They will be running tournaments and offering coach support at Rep fixtures and local tournaments. They are both ITF-qualified coaches and worked with a range of junior players in academies, clubs and schools in South Africa.

If your child does not qualify for the rep program but you would like your child to have some coaching, Jacob is also working, with Gladstone, Masterton, Greytown and Carterton Tennis Club's. Please contact your closest club directly.
