Regional 2 Mixed Interclub Pre Xmas Competition 2026
The regional 2 interclub competition is for players who want to play more competitively than social tennis, including playing singles and doubles. The teams are made up of 4 players and can be mixed gender. Players of all ages can play, although must be of confident ability. Matches are played Friday evenings.

SENIOR INTERCLUB RULES (currently being updated)
TEAM FORMAT
- 4 players, any mix of gender.
- 4 Singles & 2 Doubles are played.

- Entries Close: Saturday 3rd October 2026.
- Draw Out: Friday 16th October.
- Season Starts: Friday 23rd October.
VENUES & TIMINGS
- Venue schedule to be confirmed.
- Start times: Friday Evenings 6:00pm
If teams are wanting a practice hit prior to the fixture, they must assemble at the venue early to ensure that play starts on time.
PRE XMAS COMPETITION
Friday 23rd Oct - 4th December.
COMPETITION FORMAT
Run over 7 weeks.
Depending on the number of teams entered, we anticipate a full round robin competion, followed by finals.
If the number of tems entered is large, the competion may be split into 2 divisions. Teams will be allocated at the discretion of WT.
MATCH FORMAT
Best of 2 TB sets to 6.
Tiebreaker to 10 points for the third set.
ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
- Teams must field players who are affiliated to Wairarapa Tennis.
- All School Team Players must be a member of a Wairarapa club. All school teams must send a list of players with details of what club the player is affiliated to before the start of the season.
- Male players can not play for both Regional 1 & Regional 2 team. If a male player plays 2 matches for a Regional 1 team they cannot play Regional 2 for the raminder of the season.
- Female players are permitted to play both Regional 1, 2 & 3.
- Team members must have played at least one match in pool play to be eligible to play in the final.
SUBSTITUTES
Up to 2 players may be substituted in to play the doubles for each fixture – these players must be listed on the results sheet prior to the fixture commencing.
If a player who has been listed to play doubles is injured during singles or unavailable to play, you may introduce a substitute that was not originally listed on the results sheet.
COST
$120 per team for the 7 week pre xmas competition.
BAD WEATHER POSTPONEMENTS
In the event of bad weather, the team captains need to contact each other to establish the chances of play commencing.
If a fixture is unable to be played on its scheduled day, the teams need to discuss the possibility of re-scheduling to another day. If every effort has been made but the fixture cannot be started or completed, the points will be shared.
