Interclub
The club regularly enters a number of teams into regional interclub tennis competitions run by Tennis Capital Coast, where you get to test your tennis prowess against different clubs in the Wellington region. Over the past few years, we have had teams in the Mixed A, Mixed B, Mixed C, Mixed D and Mixed E interclub competitions. We also enter teams into the Winter Interclub competition.
The 2025/2026 season sees a new women's team entered into the Women's Doubles Tuesday Night interclub.
Competition is usually held on a Saturday afternoon for Mixed grades and Tuesday evenings for the Women's Doubles Tuesday Night interclub. Interclub starts mid October and runs until early December. After Christmas interclub starts again at the end of January and continues until early March.
There is also a midweek women's interclub team that is available for members who are available during weekdays which runs October to March and a mixed interclub competition that runs over winter June to September.
Tennis New Zealand runs a grading system known as MatchPoint (https://results.matchpoint.kiwi/wtn-ranking). Every player receives a singles ranking (S*) and a doubles ranking (D*) and receives points for matches won/lost. Players must play in ranking order for interclub. Note you must check the ranking before each match, as the rankings are updated daily. Note that Tennis NZ is currently bringing in a new ranking system.
Putting your name forward for an interclub team is a commitment, and there is an expectation that you will be available for your rostered matches. The club may be subject to fines or deduction of competition points if teams don't turn up and have to default matches.
The Mildenhall Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding interclub player at the end of season prizegiving. This is based on the number of matches won throughout the interclub season.
There will also be an additional charge for interclub players to cover the cost of registration of the team. Currently the charge is $4 per interclub match player per person.
