Welcome to Miramar Tennis Club

Thank you for joining Miramar Tennis Club. We have a number of ways members can participate and play tennis at the club. This includes casual play by booking a court online, through to joining one of our many interclub teams.

We cater for both juniors and seniors, from beginner to advanced levels.

We are also more than just a tennis club, we are part of the community too, building relationships with local schools as well as offering community play for juniors and families just starting out to play tennis. We also hire out the clubrooms for events and community groups.

Below is some more information about the club that you may find useful. We hope you enjoy the wonderful facilities we have to offer, be respectful of other members, and of course, have fun!

Court access and casual play

All members are welcome to use the courts outside of set club activity times and interclub bookings. Please view the court availability using the online booking sheet. Once you have confirmed your booking you will be provided a code that you enter at the court gate followed by pressing the [enter] button. The code also works for the club’s front door where you can access the changing rooms and toilet facilities. The code is valid for the period of the court booking. Please do not prop or latch the doors open.

We have recently installed a new SmartGate entry system at the club so if you experience any teething problems with it, please contact Shane Binnie, Club President, at shanebinnie@gmail.com.

Interclub and club activities take priority over casual play. Members can bring guests to the club, but if the same guest plays more than once a month we ask that they join the club. Please remember tennis etiquette while on court including appropriate non marking tennis shoes.

Court lights

Miramar Tennis club has four floodlit courts that provide the ability to play after dark.

The lights must be turned off by 10pm as per our resource consent.

The flood lights run on two circuits. The first circuit lights courts 1&2 the second circuit lights courts  3&4. Lights can be turned on at the switch board, located inside the main door of the club (to the left as you walk in). More information on how to turn on the court lights can be found here. https://clubspark.kiwi/miramartennisclub/Booking/FloodLights

Social Tennis

Weather permitting we have social tennis play on Wednesday evenings starting at 7.00pm. We have a break from Christmas until mid-January and then continue through until Easter.  We play pick-up casual tennis where the more that come along the merrier. Please contact Neil Wong for more information at corneiliuswong@hotmail.com or 0211333081.

Interclub Tennis

Miramar has a very high participation rate in Wellington Interclub and we strongly encourage members, young and old, to participate. Contact the following if you are at all interested in participating:

  1. Men's Interclub: David King - david@davidking.co.nz
  2. Mid-Week & Women’s interclub: Steph Walker - stephaniewalker@xtra.co.nz
  3. Juniors: Nick Guyomar - nickees@hotmail.com

Your Involvement

The entire club is run and managed by volunteers. All the behind the scenes stuff is coordinated by members volunteering their time.

To keep subscriptions affordable, club members and junior parents are encouraged to contribute to the smooth running of the club. All members and junior parents are welcome to join the committee, which meets monthly over the summer – lots of hands make light work and we will always welcome people who are willing to help out.

You do not have to take a formal role on the committee, rather picking up the odd job here and there is fine. For example we have a mowing group who help with the grounds.

Alternatively, you can help with specific projects or jobs, be sure to let us know your areas of expertise. And please make time to support other club activities such as working bees and fundraising initiatives.

Any professional expertise or sponsorship you can offer the club is also very welcome. Our club relies on the strength of its membership, so if you know of anyone interested in joining please email Aidan Burch, Club Secretary, at miramar.tennis@xtra.co.nz
