Class Descriptions

Blue Ball

This programme is an introduction to motor skill development for young players. Sessions are 30 minutes and require an adult (parent, guardian or babysitter) to assist for the class. Stations will last for under 5 minutes to cater for the age and attention span of the players.

Red Ball Trainee

This program teaches young players the skills and understanding required to play the game of tennis. The core of these skills are simple to complex throwing and catching challenges that lead to challenges with a racquet, as well as serve development, and game understanding to be able to play a tennis match. Players should expect to be in a Trainee group for 1 - 3 terms depending on the number of times they play per week, and the amount of independent training they engage in.

The red ball is a larger and lighter tennis ball (25% compression) making it bounce at the perfect height for younger players. The courts and nets used in the Red stage are much smaller making it easier for kids to have success and understand the game of tennis.

Red Ball Players

This program takes players with the basic skills and understanding to play tennis and develops their abilities to serve, rally and score using the full red court. Serving, rallying skills, and game understanding will all be explored and expanded on to keep growing their tennis. Players in this program are encouraged to play in two groups per a week and engage in independent training.

Green Ball Trainee to Players

This program takes players with the basic skills and understanding to play tennis and develops them into players who can serve, rally and score using the full court. Included in the term package for this program will be a competition designed specifically for young players to come along and use their tennis skills and understanding in a kid-friendly atmosphere.

The green ball (75% compression) is used at this stage and with our blended approach the coaches may change the ball depending on the shot and situation that is being worked on. Players use the full-size court.
