Juniors
Junior players make up nearly half of our membership and are a lively and important part of Pt Chev Tennis Club. Tennis is a sport for life, and we look forward to helping your child learn, develop their skills and enjoy the game.
Junior Club Membership includes: Club Coaching sessions in Terms 1 & 4, competitive Interclub training, year-round court access, Junior Interclub (including Tennis Auckland and Tennis New Zealand affiliation fees), entry into Junior Club Champs and other club tournaments, and discounts on After School Lessons and other private coaching.
🎾 Junior Coaching – Term 4
We’re really excited about the start of the new season and having Tom and Allan leading our coaching programme! The junior coaching programme will begin in Week 1 of Term 4.
As part of your PCTC junior membership, all junior members can attend two free coaching sessions each week during Term 4 and Term 1:
1. Junior Club Night – Friday
A fun afternoon and evening of tennis, games and activities for all junior members.
- 3:30–4:15pm – Ages 4–7
- 4:15–5:00pm – Ages 4–7
- 5:00–6:00pm – Ages 7–12
- 6:00–7:00pm – Ages 12+
PLUS one age- and ability-appropriate coaching session:
🔴 Red Ball – Ages 4–7
Saturday | 8:30–9:15am
🟠 Orange Ball – Ages 7–11
Saturday | 10:00–11:00am
🟢 Green Ball – Ages 11+
Wednesday | 3:30–4:30pm
Your child will attend the session that best suits their age and ability, with groups able to change at the coaches’ discretion as players develop.

🏆 Junior Interclub Training
For our junior players who represent PCTC in interclub, we also offer free interclub training on Thursday afternoons:
- 4:00–5:00pm – Younger Interclub Teams
- 5:00–6:00pm – Older Interclub Teams
These sessions are focused on match preparation, tactics, consistency and building confidence ahead of interclub competition. More information about Junior Interclub will be coming next month.
Club Coaching
Club Coaching is a larger-format group session designed to help junior players develop their skills while having fun and playing with other junior members.
For younger players, sessions focus on exercises, drills, ball skills and fun games. Older players will also work on mini-games, rules, scoring and match play.
Sessions generally include:
- Warm-up exercises
- Drills to develop strokes and ball skills
- Fun games and activities
- Match play and scoring (where appropriate)
- Warm-down
- A summary of skills learned
After School Private Lessons
After School Lessons are personalised small-group sessions of 4–6 players, organised according to ability and focused on developing technique, ball control, movement and strategy.
