39th Janet Agnew Carnival Doubles Tournament
The Janet Agnew Carnival Doubles Tournament is held annually on the first weekend in February. The tournament caters for A and B grade players in men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles events.
Janet Agnew started the two-day tournament in 1987 after she suffered serious head injuries in a car crash in 1986 and was told she would never play tennis again. Fortunately, the doctor’s initial prognosis proved pessimistic, and Janet was soon back on the tennis court with the desire to create a doubles tournament that all Northland tennis players could enjoy.
Each year, we have a great selection of local sponsors who support our tournament through the donation of cash, goods and/or services.
