Hotshots Membership:
Hotshots is an internationally recognized coaching programme (including Tennis NZ) catering for children wanting to learn and improve their tennis. Hotshots is made 'easier' using smaller courts, slower balls and shorter racquets. Our hotshots sessions have a key focus on tactical, technical, fun and social elements where players can improve.
As players improve, they can move through 'stages' to suit their age and development. The balls slowly get bouncier, the racquets get longer and the courts bigger. In saying this, it is not a 'race' to get through the stages as quickly as possible... it's essential that players can really learn, develop and practice their skills at a suitable pace which will bring long-term benefits.
Red ball - Play horizontal across court with mini net and 25% compression ball (slightly larger). Usually 4-8yrs.
Orange ball - Play on 3-4 court and 50% compression ball (same size as green, but still softer). Usually 7-10yrs.
Green-dot ball - Full court and 75% compression ball (pre-interclub or 10u interclub). Usually 8-11yrs.
Coaching Days/Times:
4-8yrs (Red and Orange) - Wednesday 3.45-4.30pm or Friday 3.45 to 4.30pm
9-16yrs (Orange and Green-Dot) - Wednesday 4.30-5.15pm or Friday 4.30 to 5.15pm

Membership includes weekly coaching for a total of 20 sessions, starting from 20th September 2023
Junior Interclub Membership:
Through our Junior interclub membership, players compete in the Tennis Canterbury competition against other clubs within the region. Teams are formed by the club (usually 4-6 players in each team) based on age/ability with matches being played on Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings (depending on your grade). For the 2023/24 interclub season, the grades are: 10U, 12U, 14U and Open (17U).
As part of this membership, players will receive a 1hr training per week for a total of 18 weeks across the season. These trainings are led by our head coach, Nic Jenkins, alongside Edgeware's experienced coaching team. Coaching begins from 9 October 2023 and runs along the school terms.
Players are expected to wear an Edgeware club shirt - these are available to purchase for $45.
Coaching Days/Times:
Usually between 4-7pm on Mon, Tues or Wed. This is decided closer to the time and dependent on team availability. If players are unable to attend their team's training, they are welcome to join another practice.
Our first team practice will begin from 9 October 2023.
Senior Interclub Membership:
Through our Senior interclub membership, players compete in the Tennis Canterbury competition against other clubs within the region. Teams are formed by the club (usually 5-7players in each team) and Tennis Canterbury place these teams into divisions based on ability/ranking. As part of this membership, players will also receive a 1hr training per week for a total of 18 weeks. Interclub players are also welcome to join our 'club days' each Saturday at 1.30pm. The membership cost for Senior players is $340 for the 2023/24 season.
Premier - Saturday 1.30pm start
Mixed - Saturday 1pm start
Div 1-6 Men - Sunday 9am start
Div 1-2 Women - Sunday 9am start
Players are expected to wear an Edgeware club shirt - these are available to purchase for $45.
Coaching Days/Times:
Our senior interclub players are welcome to join our weekly training session on Tuesday's 7-8pm. Coaches focus heavily on technique and tactics to help senior players prepare for their weekend matches.
First training: Tuesday 19 September 2023
For seniors who are NOT interested in coaching, you can pay a smaller fee of $295 for the 2023/24 season.
For seniors aged 18-25yrs, you will also pay a smaller fee of $265 for the 2023/24 season.
Social Membership:
Our social tennis membership is for 'recreational' players who enjoy playing organized doubles in a fun, socialable setting. Organized social play is twice a week and players are also welcome to use our courts whenever they wish. Social membership (and senior 65+) runs for 12 months with organized play running throughout the winter every week!
Organized social tennis:
- Tuesday's 9.30am to 12pm
- Saturday's 1.30pm to 4pm
Family Membership:
We have options for families to purchase a membership with us that is both flexible and affordable. At $500, you recieve memberships for 2x adults / 1x child OR 1x adult / 2x childs. For the adult, this is a social membership and juniors get the choice of hotshots or junior interclub. For each additional family member, it is another $100 each person. E.g. 1x adults and 3x children is $600. If the adult would like to play senior interclub, there is an additional cost of $50 per person.
