Tennis NZ Participant Protection Policy

Tennis NZ have developed and adopted a Tennis Participant Protection Policy and have asked all tennis entities in the country to do the same. Tennis Central have adopted the policy. A thorough document, based on Tennis Australia's Member Protection Policy, the purpose of the TPPP is to protect the health, safety and well-being of those who participate in the activities of Tennis NZ, Tennis Regions, Tennis Associations, Affiliates and member Clubs. It is important that all entities are aware of this policy, its purpose and their procedural obligations relating to this policy.

Tennis Central Agency Police vets

Tennis Central Region is an ‘approved agency’ by the New Zealand Police. This entitles Tennis Central to request a Police vetting check to be carried out on any individual (with their consent) associated with Tennis Central Region and its activities under the guidelines outlined in Tennis NZ's Police Vetting Policy. To contribute to a safe and secure tennis environment, Tennis Central Region requires all coaches who currently operate at the Renouf Tennis Centre, Tennis Central staff/board along with travelling team coaches or managers who have sole or joint responsibility for children to undergo a Police vetting check every three years.

Tennis Central strongly urge clubs and associations within the region to either use the National Police Vetting Service or apply directly to the NZ Police to become an 'Approved Agency' to conduct their own checks.
