Handicap Doubles

The Handicap Doubles tournament is the first of the club's annual tennis tournaments. Names of members who register for the tournament are put into a hat and then a double's combination is drawn out at random (usually one male and one female). The team is then allocated a "handicap" based on the strength and experience of the combination. For example, the combination might start each game at "minus 30", which means they need to win six points to win a game, versus a team that might start with "plus 15",  that only needs three points to win the game.

The aim of the tournament is to even out the playing field and to give every member a chance to win the tournament. So it doesn't matter if you're new to tennis - you've got the same chance of winning as other more experienced players.

Winners of the tournament are awarded the Peryman Cup.
