Terms and Conditions for Court Use - Thomas Neale Family Memorial Park

Welcome to Thomas Neale Family Memorial Park, proudly managed by Tennis Northland Incorporated.

Thank you for coming along and utilising our facilities.

To ensure everyone benefits from the courts please ensure you abide by the following rules:

 

  1. No food or glass on the courts
  2. Please take all your rubbish with you.
  3. Close the gate when you leave.
  4. No pets on the courts please.
  5. All users are expected to maintain a high standard of sportsmanship and respect towards other players and facilities.
  6. Profanity, abusive language, and disrespectful behaviour are strictly prohibited.
  7. Players are responsible for bringing their own tennis rackets and balls.
  8. Users are responsible for their personal safety while on the Court.
  9. Report any hazards or damages immediately to the management.
  10. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to receive a full refund.
  11. No-shows are not eligible for refunds.
  12. In the event of inclement weather, the Court may be closed for safety reasons. Rescheduling or refunds will be provided in such cases.
  13. The person who booked the court must be present at the facility. Courts cannot be booked on behalf of others without the booker being in attendance.
  14. Individuals may only book one court at a time. If multiple courts are being utilised, Tennis Northland reserves the right to request an additional payment at the casual hire rate of $10 per court per hour.
  15. No structured coaching activities may take place under a court booking membership. Anyone wishing to run coaching or training activities at Thomas Neale Tennis Centre must first discuss and come to an arrangement with the Tennis Northland Board. Coaching cannot be conducted under a court booking membership without prior approval.
  16. Spectators must observe the game from designated areas and not interfere with play.
  17. Users play at their own risk. The facility is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or damages that may occur during play.
  18. Users are encouraged to secure personal belongings, and the facility is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

BOOKING THE COURTS FOR COACHING

In line with best practice developments in coaching across New Zealand and internationally, Tennis Northland is introducing updated safeguarding and coaching requirements for all coaches operating at Thomas Neale Tennis Centre.

To coach out of Thomas Neale Tennis Centre:

Courts used for Coaching purposes must be booked and paid for prior to use:

  • Coaches can book up to two hours coaching time.  If more time is needed, you must make arrangements with Tennis Northland via email:  admin@tennisnorthland.org.nz
  • For long term bookings, arrangements can be made to be invoiced at month end, these can be booked through Tennis Northland staff.

Mandatory Requirements For Coaches

There will be 5 Mandatory Requirements (as outlined below) to enable coaches to coach out of Thomas Neale Tennis Centre or under the Tennis Northland name.

  • Requirements 1-3 are effective immediately
  • Requirements 4 & 5 must be completed by 01/12/2026
  • This allows a 6-month grace period for coaches to complete the requirements
  1. Member Protection Declaration/ Coach Code of Ethics

All coaches must sign and return the Member Protection Declaration before coaching at Thomas Neale Tennis Centre, or on behalf of Tennis Northland Inc.

All coaches must read and abide by the Tennis New Zealand Coaching Code of Ethics.

2.  Northland Coaching groups

Any tennis programmes, squads, coaching groups, competitions, or activities seeking to operate under the Tennis Northland name or as affiliated Tennis Northland activities must receive prior approval from the General Manager or the Tennis Northland Board.

Requests for approval should be submitted via email to: gm@tennisnorthland.org.nz.

3. All coaches to be Police Vetted

New Zealand Police vetting service Tennis NZ

This service is designed to contribute towards a safe tennis environment.

 

  • A Police vet check is valid for 3 years, after which it must be updated to comply with regulations.

4. All coaches to be listed on the Tennis New Zealand Coach Register

From 1st December 2026, only coaches who appear on the Tennis New Zealand Coach Register will be permitted to deliver coaching at Thomas Neale.

 

 

Please note:

  • Coaches qualified at Coaching Assistant level will need to be under the supervision of a coach qualified to a minimum ITF (Junior) Development Coach level or equivalent to take lessons at Thomas Neale Tennis Centre, or on behalf of Tennis Northland Inc.      
  • This applies to all coaches working independently or under a coaching business or academy.

5. Complete the 5 Required Safety and Professional Checks

All registered coaches must complete and maintain the following:

  • Valid coaching qualification including safeguarding training
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Signed Coach Code of Ethics
  • Appropriate Insurance
  • Current Police Vetting (effective immediately and to be completed in step 3)

These requirements form part of Tennis New Zealand’s five-point safeguarding framework.

Tennis Northland staff will be able to assist you with any part of completing the Coaching requirements or Booking courts for Thomas Neale Tennis centre.

Updates to Terms and Conditions - These terms may be updated periodically, and users will be notified of any changes. By utilising the tennis court, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by these terms and conditions. Failure to comply may result in the termination of your court usage privileges
