Based at the Thomas Neale Tennis Centre in Whangārei, this is a rare opportunity to shape the future of tennis across Northland and make a real impact in local communities. 

 

About the Role 

As General Manager, you’ll lead the strategic, operational, and financial direction of Tennis Northland. You’ll oversee the regional tennis facility, support clubs and coaches, grow participation, and build strong relationships across the sport and recreation sector. 

This role suits someone who enjoys variety — from strategic planning and stakeholder engagement to hands‑on event delivery and facility oversight. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the delivery of Tennis Northland’s strategic plan 
  • Manage operations at the Thomas Neale Tennis Centre 
  • Drive participation growth through community programmes, club support, and volunteer development 
  • Build strong relationships with clubs, schools, councils, funders, and partners 
  • Secure funding through grants, sponsorships, and commercial opportunities 
  • Oversee regional competitions, tournaments, and major events 
  • Provide high‑quality governance reporting to the Board 

What You’ll Bring 

  • Experience in sport management, community sport, recreation, or a related field 
  • Strong leadership and relationship‑building skills 
  • Financial management and budgeting capability 
  • Experience in facility management 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • A passion for community sport and creating inclusive opportunities
