Business House Doubles League 

Mix business with fun. Get a team together and enter this evening competition played Wednesdays from February to April. Grades for all abilities, beginner to expert!

When: Wednesdays (12th February – 2nd April 2025)

Time: 6pm-8pm 

Where: Thomas Neale Family Memorial Park 

Entry Fee: $120 per team 

Tennis Balls: Tennis Northland will provide the tennis balls for this league.  

Team Composition: 

• There will be 4 players in each team on any given night. You can nominate more than 4 players per team on your entry form. Any additions to the team sheet thereafter must be okayed by Tennis Northland. 
• Open to everyone (i.e., you don’t need to be a member of a tennis club) 
• Players may not play for more than one team in the competition.  

Grades: Social (for those new to tennis and those after a more 'social' time) and Competitive (those with a decent amount of tennis experience). The teams are expected to play in a grade appropriate to their skill level. Tennis Northland reserves the right to adjust a team’s grade. 

Max 6 teams in each grade.  

Format: Matches will be timed, that is a rolling set format. Each tie will consist of four matches (1&2 v 1&2 and 3&4 v 3&4, 1&3 v 1&3 and 2&4 v 2&4). After 30 minutes (at the sound of the buzzer) matches will end, and the next match will start. 

Score Cards: Will be provided to Captains on the night. No points will be awarded unless the score card is handed in, immediately after play.  

Scoring: Normal rules of tennis apply. Total points over the 30 minute time period are recorded (e.g. no sets, just record the games won).  

Defaults: It is the responsibility of team captains to ensure that they have a full team on game day. Any issues should be communicated with Tennis Northland and the captain of the opposing team. 

Points Table: A points table will be kept throughout the competition and published on the Tennis Northland website each week. For each match won, teams will be awarded 1 point. A bonus point is added for teams that win the tie each week. In the result of a draw (2 matches each), a countback of points in all matches will determine the winner which will be awarded the bonus point. In the event of any disputes, the decision of Tennis Northland will be final.    

Weather: Weather cancellations will be made by 5:00PM and an email will be sent to the captain of each team.   If rounds are cancelled due to wet weather 2 weeks will be allocated for catchup games. Catch up games will be played in order of original scheduling. If the 2 weeks are not required for backup use a finals round can be arranged.  

Tennis Racquets: We have a selection of secondhand tennis racquets available for those who need to borrow one during the league. 

Payment: The $120 entry fee can be paid into the Tennis Northland bank account 12-3099-0410707-00 (reference your team name). Alternatively, Tennis Northland can provide an invoice for payment.
