Northland tennis players enjoyed great success at the 2025 Pascoes Tennis NZ Masters National Teams Event, held in Tauranga over Easter weekend.
Despite wet weather, Northland teams performed strongly across several age groups. The Men's 50+ team of Mike Clapshaw, Terry Mitchell, Keith Cocking and Michael Walters won gold, while the Women's 65+ team of Raewyn Heywood, Maryanne Rogers, Margaret Harper, Francie James and Rose Lobb also claimed a gold medal.
There were silver medals for the Men's 60+ team — Greg Miller, Sam Marsh, Grant van Dalsum and Marc Kaemper — and for the Women's 60+ Blue team of Wendy Sykes, Frances Coutts, Ollie Smith, Jo Porter and Ursula Hinck.
Northland had a strong presence at the event, with 38 players taking part, including four who supported other teams. Their combined efforts saw Northland awarded the John Mickell Trophy for the best-performing club at the tournament.
Tennis Northland Seniors is very pleased to acknowledge the contribution made to the recent success at the National Teams Event in Tauranga by Pub Charity Limited. Northland's success was achieved with an accommodation subsidy from Pub Charity Limited, which allowed some players to attend who may not have afforded the trip otherwise.
